WHICH BEACHES ARE NEARBY?

Blue Drift is perfectly positioned for exploring the Jurassic coastline with 3 separate beaches located within a 5 to 14 minute drive.

The 630 mile South West Coastal Footpath is also just a 5 minute drive away so the house is a great base if you're looking to enjoy some beautiful coastal walks.

 

BUDLEIGH SALTERTON:

1.2 miles/ 5 minute drive/ 25 minute walk (pebbled beach).

Budleigh Salterton is situated near the beginning of the World Heritage Jurassic Coast, the only town in the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

This picturesque town has a 2.5 mile pebble beach, overlooked by stunning red sandstone cliffs and safe, clean bathing water. Budleigh remains one of Devon’s most unspoilt and charming towns, containing many interesting shops and other attractions.

EXMOUTH:

4 miles/ 8 minute drive/ 82 minute walk (sandy beach).

Showcasing a two mile long golden sandy beach with watersports on offer including kite surfing, kayaking, windsurfing. There’s also cycling either on fantastic cycle paths or off-road, bird watching on the idyllic Exe estuary, or walking and enjoying the stunning scenery of the majestic World Heritage Jurassic Coast.

Exmouth is a lively town, situated on the east coast of Devon where the River Exe meets the sea. The town offers a diverse selection of shops, places to eat and things to do.

SIDMOUTH:

6 miles/ 14 minute drive/ 120 minute walk (pebbled beach).

This lovely seaside town is nestled beneath majestic red cliffs, which, along with the green hills of the Sid Valley, will captivate you. Located in East Devon and full of friendly faces and beautiful scenery, it is no wonder that Sidmouth is a firm favourite among families and tourists looking for a seaside resort. The dramatic cliffs, fresh sea air and the abundance of attractions makes it a wonderful place to recharge the batteries. It’s the kind of town where you can do everything or nothing at all, you can make a splash by taking on some watersports, savour a cream tea or two at one of the town’s many hotels and cafes, spend some time exploring the South West Coast Path or discover a new passion at one Sidmouth’s regular festivals.

BRANSCOMBE:

14.1 miles/ 29 minute drive (pebbled beach).

Branscombe beach is a long shingle beach, an ideal place to relax and enjoy the stunning coastal scenery. The beach is set below the beautiful village of Branscombe, and continues east about a mile to Beer Head.

Branscombe village is part of the Jurassic Coastline, and is part of the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Branscombe is a great family beach, with rockpools for exploring and stones to skim! Part of the South West Coast Path, there’s a good cliff top walk to the picturesque village of Beer. The area has walks that cater to all abilities and the coast path can be enjoyed all year round - with views across the Jurassic Coastline.

SEATON:

16.9 miles/ 30 minute drive (pebbled beach).

Overlooking Lyme Bay and surrounded by beautiful countryside, Seaton Beach is a large pebble beach stretching over a mile long. Gently sloping, the beach is an ideal spot for swimming or water sports - and there kayaks or Stand up Paddleboards can be hired on site.

Alongside the beach is the esplanade, a flat walking area that stretches alongside the coastline - with the town at one end, and a cafe at the other. The South West Coast Path runs alongside this stunning beach and you can walk to the nearby picturesque village of Beer.

DAWLISH WARREN:

20.2 miles/ 38 minute drive (sandy beach).

Or you can take the short 5-10 minute ferry by foot or with a bicycle from Exmouth Pier Head to Starcross and then walk 2.4 miles from the ferry to Dawlish Warren which takes 47 minutes. The ferry leaves roughly every hour from Easter to October

Best for bird watching, children’s funfair and beach photography. Sand dunes and wave breaks all along this wildlife sanctuary. Dawlish Warren also has a great children’s amusement park with bumper cars, slides and go karts to add to the ice cream.
